Is EF designer also open source?

I don't see the designer solution in the repository. Is the designer considered for new EF's out-of-band release model as well? Is it planned to make it open source?

Example: Unique key support will be added to EF vFuture. How will be designer updated to support unique keys and changes in EDM(X)?

Hi Ladislav,

We're working on getting the designer code released under an open source license but we're not quite there yet. Technically it requires some extraction from the surrounding infrastructure (build system, etc.) and we're also still going through the legal processes involved. As soon as the ducks are all lined up we'll put it up and announce it.

Thanks,
Arthur

Hi,

Any rough estimation regarding the planned release date for the EF designer as open source??

Hi andresd,

We're currently working on the legal reviews needed to go open source. It's a little bit out of the team's control how long this will take, but we're pushing it and we'll put it up as soon as we can.

Thanks,
Arthur

@jradxl It is still our intention to make the designer open source and we have made progress in that direction. At the same time we need to focus on getting things working for the VS 2013 release and that has to take priority over some of the work to make the source code public. Making the code open source is the highest priority work item we have after getting a solid VS 2013 release done.

Thanks,
Arthur
